Marigold is a brown Swiss, 3-1/2 years old, from Lifeline Dairy, Hamilton
expecting her second calf in early June.
bred to a Devon bull on the Sabo Ranch.
halter broke and raised around our 4 boys.
Marigold was hand-milked, standing still for her first milking season. My 10-year old would help me milk on occasion, and she was fine. She gave 2-3 gallons of milk on fresh grass with a once-a-day milking and calf-sharing. She calved well, w/o complications. She has been around other animals at times: sheep, ducks, guinea hogs, dogs, cats. She tethers to graze and is respectful of electric fencing.
This is a good season to move Marigold, before the grass begins to grow quickly and before she gets too close to her calving date. She is an observant cow and will do well to have time to get used to her new surroundings.
I currently have 2 milk cows and can't keep both. Marigold's pregnancy confirmed in January by a vet & tested for brucellosis & TB. Healthy.
